Today we worked on persuasive letter writing, summarising and finding facts in a text. Daniella already had a clear position and some good ideas in her draft letter about homework. We compared it to a model letter and she spotted what was missing herself: a third reason, an expert line, a personal example, a counterargument and a conclusion. We built these in together. She also read her work aloud to catch spelling and punctuation slips, which she did well. In the reading activities she picked out the main idea of each paragraph and answered the fact-finding questions confidently.
